MEDICAL BILLS: If you are injured in a traffic accident, all medical bills you incur for
treatment of injuries directly related to the accident can be included in the damages. This
includes physical therapy, rehabilitation, past and current treatments, as well as all future
treatments expected due to the injuries sustained in the accident, along with all expenses
related to your health insurance. This also covers the costs of spa treatment within the
Republic of Serbia, or the costs of surgery or examinations in private healthcare facilities.
MATERIAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE: The cost of properly repairing or replacing your motor
vehicle is usually the primary basis for indemnity. However, while this is the most obvious
type of damage, it is not the only one covered. Any property inside the vehicle at the time of
the accident that needs repair or replacement can also be claimed and compensated. In
cases of TOTAL LOSSES, meaning when repair costs exceed the vehicle’s value, insurance
companies in the Republic of Serbia often list the vehicle on online auctions or sales and
offer it to third parties without the owner’s consent. This practice aims to increase the value
of the damaged vehicle’s remains and thus reduce the indemnity amount. Established court
practice holds that insurance companies are not permitted to auction or sell insured
persons’ damaged vehicles without the owner’s consent.
LOSS OF SALARY: Injuries sustained in an accident often lead to missed time at work. All loss
of salaries or benefits resulting from the accident can be accounted for and claimed.
LOSS OF FUTURE EARNINGS: When a traffic accident causes injuries that affect the victim’s
ability to fully return to their current job or profession, these damages can be compensated.
This may also include any loss of earnings due to returning to work in a reduced capacity.
PAIN AND SUFFERING: Physical injuries are not the only damages you may face after a traffic
accident. The mental impact of the accident can also be compensated, including depression,
anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Traffic accidents often leave lasting psychological effects,
especially when the injured party suffers severe physical injuries.
LOSS OF ENJOYMENT OF LIFE: Injuries from a traffic accident can seriously affect your
lifestyle (Latin: modus vivendi, English: life style), including your ability to participate in
activities you love and other life’s pleasures. This indemnity helps compensate for the
harmful impact on your changed life.
